Genena is a firm believer that active listening and purposeful questioning are key to helping her clients uncover  the barriers that keep them from moving forward. Her sweet spot is helping her clients to make small shifts in  behavior that lead to maximum impact. She also believes coaching is a partnership between coach and client,  viewing the journey as a transformative process with long-term benefits and rewards. As an advanced-level ICF  Certified Coach, Genena implements coaching strategies that empower clients to act and hold them accountable  to their goals while encouraging them toward healthy ownership. 
 

Outside of work, Genena serves on the board of the Illinois State University’s Alumni Association as an executive  committee member and volunteers at The Genesis Women’s Shelter and the Samaritan Inn, a homeless program  that helps people regain dignity and independence. She also loves spending time traveling around the world,  reading autobiographies, and walking in nature. Genena prioritizes the people in her life by planning trips with her  friends and, as one of ten children, regularly enjoys time connecting with her siblings who live across the country.  Genena is originally from her beloved hometown of Chicago, Illinois but currently resides in Frisco, TX, near her  two adult children. 

Genena holds a master’s degree in Womens’ Leadership from the Mississippi University for Women, a bachelor’s  degree in Business Management, Human Resources from Illinois State University and in addition to her PCC ICF  coaching certification, she is certified in various leadership assessment tools.
